Fantastic work mate, some great tunes in there and I would definitely have some of those in my top ten too. Great listening for a gloomy Friday with some really interesting tracks I’ve never heard until now.

One correction, the Turrican 2 track is actually from level 1 not level 2. Great music though, some of the best Amiga tracks ever created!

    • Dean Swain says:

We will have to start calling you Mystic Meg. I didn’t even know I’d being doing this episode until Thursday night lol

    • TEOL says:

You are also correct with Level 2 as well as correcting yourself with Level 1 for the AMIGA version.

Universial Soldier is the same game different name as Turrican 2 and also the character sprite is different. It also has a new level which is the new Level 1 on that version making the Level 1 music also a Level 2 music as well as it’s Level 2 music in Universial Soldier. 😛

  2. Dean Swain says:

Thanks Damien, glad that you liked it mate. I had to record this one last night after the Mrs went to bed so apologies for the Turrican 2 mistake. It’s been a while since I played it 🙂

    • Damien says:

Hehe mate absolutely no apology necessary the only reason I noticed is because the game is one of my all time favourite titles and I’ve been playing it loads again recently, I used to be able to complete it but seem to be struggling nowadays – I don’t think my reaction times are what they used to be ;).

Still it was a great show and I’m now even more impressed considering the short amount of time you had to record it!

  3. TEOL says:

How did I know the next one of the half show music specials was going to be AMIGA?

I must have some weird super psychic brain or something to know that this was going to be the next half show episode last week!!!! 😛

  4. TEOL says:

That Agony theme was amazing. It well deserved your number 1 spot.

I was just playing it 2 days ago and thought the intro theme was amazing.

  5. Andy says:

Sorry for the late reply mate, I really enjoyed this Ep fir the reason that I never owned an amiga and by the sounds of it I missed out on quite a bit.

Thanks again for doing the show at short notice, it not only saved the day but turned out really good too.

  6. TEOL says:

I thought you did own an AMIGA now or did you sell your one or give it away like the other Andy?

    • Andy says:

I do have the other amiga 1200, but not had time to play it all and I will be giving it away as a prize somewhere down the line.

I don’t actually play any of the machines I own, as real life is hectic.

I only play emulation and that’s on the way to work and I only emulate the machines I owned ……it something I will discuss on a future podcast.

Great choice of tunes there Swainy. Funny how so many poor conversions had such great tunes!
The Amiga has so many great game tunes you could make 10 podcasts dedicated to amiga music easily. Some standout tunes for me would include: Cannon Fodder, Battle Squadron, Project X, all three lotus games, supercars 2, Xennon 2, Chaos Engine, Blood Money, Data Storm, E.F.T.P.O.T.R.M, Rocket Ranger, Defender of the Crown, Lemmings and so many more…

    • Dean Swain says:

Yeah there’s a lot of tunes that I was on the fence about including and the list might have been very different if I had more time to work on it but I’m very happy with the way it turned out.

  8. den.aris says:

Looking forward to a listen in the car over the new few days squire.

  9. glenn says:

I always enjoy amiga music tracks something about amiga music I love

  10. den.aris says:

Nice one Dean. Enjoyed that. I think, putting my DJ hat on, you peaked too early with Uridium 2. Classic tune & one of the very best. Not to mention the best shooter on the Amiga 😉

Loved hearing some tunes I’ve never heard. You’ve got a certain like for that American sound definitely.

Oh and First Samurai. You bought a bloody tear to my eye dammit. So many memories attached to that tune.

You & me need to do a show together just doing tunes. 🙂

    • Dean Swain says:

Well I wanted to kick off with something special so that’s why I chose that lovely tune to begin with. Plus what I love about it, is that it has an 8bit feel to it compared to a lot of the other tracks that I was going to play.

A special music episode with the both of us sounds like a great idea!
