T.E.A.R.S. Episode 7 – Sensible World of Soccer ’96-’97

Hello again guys! It’s time for another episode of TEARS, and this one may be the most controversial!

Today I’m going to review Sensible World of Soccer ’96-’97. A very good game of which sadly I’m really crap at playing!

As usual, enjoy!

For all the intricacies and depth of Fifa and Pro Evo, neither come close to this for pure fun and tension. For me, probably the greatest game ever. To shoot you need to hold the fire buton down, whilst pressing left or right to put curl on the ball. That should see you scoring a few.

Nice vid mate, i loved my Amiga so your vids are always a nice trip down memory lane. If i could make some requests for future episodes, i’d love to see some stuff on Wings, It Came From the Desert or Project X.

My mate gave me his old 600 a few years back. Didn’t come with any leads, and i’ve only just got around to buying a power pack and aerial lead. The next step was to buy two joysticks and Sensi but, although the Amiga sounds like it’s working, i can’t tune it in to any of our TV’s. Gutted. Need to find an old style tv.

Thanks for that little tip! Will give it a try later. As for the three games you’ve requested, I’ve been thinking of doing one on Wings for quite a while now. It’s a fantastic game that I used to play lots back in the day. It Came From The Desert is also a great game, although I only played it for the first time a few years ago via emulation. Not too keen on Project X. Thought Disposable Hero was better. At the moment I can only get Wings to work, as the others crash during gameplay (I use E-UAE under Mac OS X Snow Leopard). There is a new emulator I could use called PUAE, but I can’t get it to load IPF disk images at the mo (much better than ADFs).

As for getting your A600 to work on a modern TV, how about using AV leads or SCART? Whenever we get our A1200 down from the loft, we plug it into our 42″ Plasma using AV leads and we get a nice clear picture.

That’s a much better tip than mine mate. You’re a star. I’d just been so used to using the old RF aerial when i had my Amigas in the 90’s that i hadn’t even considered that you could use a Scart. Just ordered one that should do the job. Thought i was going to have to use multiple TV’s for a while. It’d be looking less like a games room and more like the Batcave if i’f of had to go down that route.

Wings was a great game. Spent what seemed like the entire summer of 95 going through the whole war on it, only for it to crash before the ending. Still loved it though.

I picked up the Xbox Live edition last year but haven’t put much time into it. So many fond memories as a kid playing this.
