T.E.A.R.S. Episode 18 – Midnight Resistance

It’s time for another episode of T.E.A.R.S.! After recently playing the great arcade game, I’m now going to have a look at the Amiga version of the game.

Originally released by Data East in the arcades in 1989, Ocean Software, the god of all licensed games, converted this game to the home computers. Although this version didn’t suffer from being an ST port (as were 90% of all arcade conversions on the Amiga), did that make this game any good? Let’s find out!

Love the game and the Amiga version did the job very well back in the day. I do like the walking animations better here than the arcade. It is weird that all the Special FX games had the same really dark colours, really spoils the nice graphics the first thing I did when I booted this up was crank up the brightness on my commodore monitor.

The best thing about the amiga version, it was only home version that was that was 2 players like the arcade machine, bu im sure the ST could of pulled it off, they just didnt bother did they

Great video mate the main thing that is wrong with this version is the controls like you said on the arcade it has a rotary joystick it twits left or right to control the way you aim the gun.
Im in two minds what version is better this or the Megadrive.

I like the graphical style of the Amiga version. The only thing that would have made it better other than correcting the brightness and contrast would be if there was some parallax in there.

  6. Andy says:

Great vid mate, it looks pretty close to the arcade apart from the darkness of the visuals.
    I wonder what happened?
