T.E.A.R.S. Episode 11 – Snow Bros

Time for another episode! This time it’s for a game that was never released… Snow Bros!

A conversion of the 1990 Toaploan coin-op, Snow Bros is a Bubble Bobble clone in which you clear each floor full of baddies by turning them into snowballs and rolling them into walls. You’ll come across a boss every ten floors to defeat before you can make progress in rescuing the princess.

Originally due for release in 1991 by Ocean, conversions for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and Commodore Amiga computers were developed by Ocean France. Unfortunately, Ocean lost the rights to publish the game just before its release date. None of the other versions have been found, but a few years back a couple of guys managed to track down a master copy of the Amiga version, and it has since been uploaded to the Amiga Game’s That Weren’t site (

You can download the disk image here. It’s an IPF image, so you’ll need to download the SPS plugin. If you haven’t got it installed already, you can download it here. Those with WHDload installed can also download the WHDload version here.

Yep this is a great Bubble Bobble clone. Have never really played the coin-op version, but I have seen footage of it and by comparing it to the Amiga, the Amiga programmers have done a great job. It’s just a pity that they left out the 2 player mode. Saying that, I think that if this was released it would have received some good reviews and sold well.

I’ve got some more vids coming, including one for Alien Breed which I made over christmas. Sorry if I have been a bit slow with the uploading of these vids as unfortunately I’ve had some family issues to deal with and, as you know, family comes first.

I am so dissapointed this never got a home computer release on the 8 bit systems as i will guess it would be a close match like bubble bobble was for those systems. so glad these games are still being released even today

  4. Andy says:
