Episode 22 – Disk cannot be read!

After a few weeks away, Swainy finally returns to the UK’s #1 Retro Gaming Podcast.

On this week’s show he tells us what he’s been up to – doing the Knowlegde and playing on his Vectrex in his man cave, aka his shed.

Andy tells us what he’s been up to – not play much retro-wise because his Resident Evil disk on the Gamescube did not work.

Glenn is not here, but we’ve seen his holiday snaps in Majorca.

This episode is huge – it’s even bigger than Vanessa Feltz’s waistline, here’s what we got lined up for you…

  • Site news: new releases of classic retro games on the iPhone and more
  • Reviews: Back to Skool and Super Stuntman
  • Replay: Road Rash
  • Remake of the week: Target Renegade
  • WTF: Shadow Dancer (SMS) + Shadow Warriors (c64)
  • Name the game: a new fun game where the lads have to guess the game by simply answering yes or no
  • Hidden Gems: classic game we recommend you play
  • Topic of the month: the best launch title games

All that plus loads more retro gaming goodness.

Please subscribe and download on iTunes and please leave us an iTunes review.

still listening, just wanted to say congrats to you both on pending fatherhood.

    • Dean Swain says:

Thanks mate! It’s my second one on the way and Andy’s third I think so we know what to expect… Not sure if that is a good thing or not lol

    • Andy says:

      cheers mate:)

Looking forward to being a dad again.

Also please give us feed back on the new section Name the game + the outtakes at the end lol

      • jackolantern says:

Name the game sounded fun, Managed to get Fantasy Island Dizzy once Dizzy was mentioned as you have spoken about it quite a bit, Didn’t get Swainy’s though.

Outtakes are always good, might be worth saving them all for a rainy day i.e. a spare / special episode you can play if you hit some technicial snags like the Directors Cut of a Directors cut episode or you go on a break (Holiday etc) and want to put an episode out.

        • Andy says:

Glad peeps enjoyed the name the game

I am planning a best of episode of some point too lol

We are also working on way for there always to be a weekly show with no breaks inbetween, Swainy and I are obviously gonna take some time off once our wives have the babies.

But Glenn will still be around and we also got 2 other retro maniacs taking the helm too.
I think think there’s also another person who will help us too:)

But more on that closer to the time.

The plan is keep the show fresh and exciting with new hosts that love retro gaming as much as we all do.
Swainy I will be back after the little ones are born 🙂

    Great podcast, guys 🙂

Like jackolantern says, good luck to you both with your new arrivals 🙂

I liked the Name the game feature too, certainly something to keep for future episodes.

  4. scopie says:

Well as for babies, I definitely done. Four girls are quite enought for me thanks. There’s only so much Dora the explorer and Barbie a man can take!

  5. pottyboy says:

Wow that was a long podcast! Never mind, kept me entertained whilst I was out for a long walk! 🙂

Congrats to both of you bringing peeps into the world. The more retro gamers the better! 😀

I really liked the ‘name that game’ as it was real edge of your seat stuff! Although I swear that Swainy cheated a little!

  6. retrodarren says:

congrats on the additions to your families.

  7. scopie says:

Great podcast guys, good to have the return of Swainy. Really enjoyed the relaxed humor and added music in this one. You forgot to mention the greatest console launch pack in ever : Oscar & Diggers for the Amiga CD32…no wait, what?
Enjoyed the Name the Game and Hidden Gems great stuff and remember, it’s all good in the long run tee-hee-hee!

  8. Andy says:

Glad you enjoyed the show, I left a lot of stuff in the edit , still took me over 6hours to edit everything in lol
I think adding all that music takes a little extra time but I think it was worth it.

But yeah was great to have the return of Swainy 🙂

  9. darren says:

Congratulations both on the babies. Very funny podcast. Particularly liked the Swainy Aquatic Ambience dance steps 😀

  10. TEOL says:

I agree I would too like an unofficial Target Renegade 2 with every character from from all the versions with no characters missing.

Also I would like to see a remake of this Target Renegade remake where all the stage levels from all the versions as the C64 has a missing level of the car park level and the NES one has what happens after you got out of the Car Park for it’s first level.

  11. glenn says:
