Pitfall was first released on the Atari 2600 and really set the game scene on fire with Indiana Jones style adventure game where you swung across vines and jumped over holes, it was programmed by David Crane, who not only made some of the best Atari 2600 games but also co-founded Activision.
As remakes go this isn’t to bad, now the reason I’m saying that is the controls.
Most retro classics games struggle with the controls for a number of reasons but this game uses the iPhone controls to its a advantage.
The main character is always running forward by himself, so that adds a sense of danger and urgency as you jump, slide and just navigate your way through the level.
The character is control by simple
Swipes on the screen, swipe up to jump, swipe down to slide and left/right depending on which way you need to go.
The game feels very retro in feel & gameplay, though graphics are simple it does feel like a true sequel/remake of the classic game.
The game has a in game store where you can purchase new outfits and a bunch of other things, but to be honest none of them are really necessary.
The best thing is this game is only £0.69 from the App Store.
So why not give it a go, you really can’t go wrong as its a fun game.
