Konix Multi-Sytem: Emulation Is Finally Released

It’s something that Retro Asylum thought would never actually happen, we can now actually play the Konix Multi-System via emulation! Yes, the first build of the emulator that has been programmed by someone going by the name of Savoury SnaX has been released along with an early (but playable) version of Attack of the Mutant Camels that has been provided by games industry legend, Jeff Minter.

For those of you who don’t know, The Konix Multi-System was a console that was in development in the late 80’s/early 90’s that sadly never saw the light of day, however if had been released it could have been the 90’s answer to the Nintendo Wii due to it’s planned control options.

  1. We can all point to sad cases like Dreamcast and Jaguar that were killed before their time but this is a real shame since it never even made it to release. Looks like it could have been a really awesome system.

    Wow! :-0

This had loads of hype back in the day, but there was something about the system that people didn’t believe in. I must admit the control wheel/handlebars looked flimsy to me, and the tech demos never really looked *that* amazing. Will certainly give this emulator a try though!

Wow the graphics look very 16-Bit for something if it existed that would have been out in the 8-Bit era of 1988.

This could have beaten the MD to the punch for first 16-Bit UK released PAL system if it had have come out in 88.

I remember getting quite excited about this. ACE magazine run a feature on it once, along with the rest of the press but it was ACE’s feature that stood out to me.

Will be interesting trying this out and some prototypes do exist still. Remember reading not so long ago about them.

Good old ACE mag-I remember the article 🙂
