In this 5th audition we have Scott Dacey aka “Soulstar”

Scott recalls how he got first got into gaming on his uncle’s Atari ST, tells us about the ST user groups and talks about some of the games he’s played including First Samurai, Dr Who and Buggy Boy.

Scott shares his experiences of hiring a bunch of systems and holding a computer party.

All this plus an update on Retromania which is being held on the 25th August and of course the Essex £20 car-boot challenge which will be held on the 23rd June.

Great podcast Soulstar. Being able to hire consoles for your party, sounds awesome. I’ve never used an Atari ST, but I have just picked up Chuck Rock II for the MegaDrive after listening as I’ve never played that and loved the first one on the Amiga.

  2. Andy says:

Totally agree with Uniforix, Another super audition.

We do need more ST love on the podcast at some point as its a system we never really cover.

  3. Andy says:

Oh and big thanks to Sam aka mrsid for another amazing cover

  4. soulstar says:

Glad you enjoyed it anyway. I love the cover art by the way and was quite excited to see how it was going to turn out.

It’s a shame I live miles away from where these events are taking place otherwise I’d come.

  5. mrsid says:

Fantastic audition Soulstar. Loved my ST. Spent hours and hours on Robocod. Agree with Andy, ST needs some more love!!!

  6. TEOL says:

The Soulstar Scott Davey wrestling style name alone means winner. 😀

  7. glenn says:

Enjoy the podcast funny enough i dont watch doctor who so i should start learning the part lol

its interesting topic about coped games Scott Davey enjoyed the podcast

  8. soulstar says:

Just so you all know, Andy made a spellin typo in the description. It’s Dacey not Davey haha. He does pronounce it properly in the show itself so I’m assuming he hit the V instead of the C while typing it out.

  9. Great audition, sounds like you were a proper little pirate back in the day. I had an ST too but hardly anyone I knew had one, they all had Amigas so I didn’t get much copied software.

You hear that…? Whoop whoop… they finally caught up with you mate…

  10. Damien says:

Really nice podcast there Soulstar, I enjoyed hearing about how you got into computers. Although I never owned a chipped console, I had quite a few friend that did and we always felt there was something a bit special about importing games from the US – we always hoped the games would have more gore than we ever saw in UK versions though rarely was this the case!

Nice one though, looking forward to hearing you talk again!
