Boogerman 20th Anniversary Kickstarter campaign

16-bit classic Boogerman could be getting a HD remake for PC, Mac OS, PS4, PS Vita, and Wii U.

This brand new HD Boogerman adventure made by the original creators, is celebrating 20 years of excellent grossness!

20 years ago Mike Stragey and Chris Tremmel began working on a game for the Sega Megadrive at Interplay Productions. The only requirement was that the game needed to be both fun AND gross. The idea was to appeal to the “Garbage Pail Kids” generation. Several concepts were pitched to the bosses Brian Fargo and Alan Pavlish. Some were incredibly funny, some were incredibly offensive. From this primordial design ooze, Boogerman was born!

Here’s is what Mike and Chris say about it:

‘Boogerman 20th Anniversary is a brand new side-scrolling action platform game. The game will be based on the original in terms of setting, story, and characters. We will maintain the tone of the 16-bit classic while at the same time bringing a new game structure, new mechanics, new levels, and new gorgeous HD animation, art, and presentation to the modern day consoles.’

Does look interesting, although I have to confess I never did play the original at all.

Might have to play it I’m the megadrive and see what it was like

  2. Adam says:

I discovered Boogerman whilst searching for Mega Drive games for my emulator.

I remember the bosses were a pain in the ass to beat.

I really hate to say it but looking at what’s been pledged so far, I have a feeling that the campaign will end the same way the Dizzy and James Pond projects did.
